Water Line Replacement
The Village of Merrionette Park is pleased to announce the replacement of lead water service pipes in town. The Lead Water Services Replacement project will include all homes north of 115th Street within the Village. Replacement will include a new copper water service from the water main in the street to the water meter inside the home, installed with trenchless methods to minimize disturbance. The project will replace service pipes that are over 70 years old, eliminating any potential risk from lead exposure in drinking water. Please contact Village Hall for more information.
The work to replace the water services will be wholly financed by the Water Pollution Control Loan Program through the State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The $1,150,000 cost of the project will be completely forgiven by the SRF program as part of a state-wide lead replacement initiative. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.
